Bush Pushes Broadband Rollout by 2007

President Bush on Friday proposed 2007 as the goal for universal availability of high-speed Internet access to keep America competitive and innovative.
Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell has pushed an agenda to reduce the regulations on telephone companies, which in the past have had to share their networks with rivals because of their dominance in serving homes.

Perverts filmed me, says Putin rival

A fierce critic of Russia's President Vladimir Putin who disappeared for several days said on Friday that he had been kidnapped, drugged and filmed in a "revolting" video designed to compromise him. Ivan Rybkin, a former speaker of the Russian Parliament running in presidential elections next month, said in London that his life was in danger and he would conduct the rest of his campaign by video link and TV advertisements.

It may not be long before you hear airport security screeners ask, "Do you plan on hijacking this plane?" A U.S. company using technology developed in Israel is pitching a lie detector small enough to fit in the eyeglasses of law enforcement officers, and its inventors say it can tell whether a passenger is a terrorist by analyzing his answer to that simple question in real-time.
